Little Cottonwood Canyon 10-8-11

I finally pulled out my camera this season to capture the beauty of the Fall and Winter combined! We just started Fall a couple of weeks ago, and then it decided to snow! It didn't snow here in the valley--but the mountains look great all dressed in white! We were able to go for a hike up Little Cottonwood Canyon this last weekend and enjoyed the crisp air and beautiful fall leaves mixed with the white of snow! This first one was taken on our drive up past Alta ski resort--the snow was much thicker there!
The rest are from our hike in Little Cottonwood Canyon--or also known as the site where the granite was excavated (is that the right word?) for the Salt Lake Temple. I can't imagine being there then and seeing the towering granite mountains (especially in the cold winter!!)
I love the contrast between the pretty fall colors and the white snow--it looks so peaceful laying there.
